Beth Hartell, M.S. is the owner and president of PearTree Nutrition, a nutrition communications consulting firm.  Started in 2007, PearTree Nutrition is dedicated to educating and collaborating on evidence-based solutions that cut through common nutrition misperceptions, claims, and barriers to healthful food choices.  Beth blends her nutrition science expertise with the ability to clearly and effectively translate science into targeted, actionable messages for a wide variety of audiences, and excels at connecting people and ideas to bring exciting nutrition concepts to life.  She works hard to transform mindsets, provide evidence-based information and education, and strives to make food and good nutrition less stressful for everyone.

Through PearTree Nutrition, Beth works with leading global food companies, conducting comprehensive, unbiased literature reviews, helping them assess new emerging food ingredients, nutrition trends, and approaches. Beth also provides nutrition expertise for leading non-profits, including trainings for health professionals and food educators on the latest nutrition research and guidance, with a focus on setting up children and families for long-term health and positive nutrition experiences.  She creates detail-oriented and thorough lasting nutrition solutions to questions and projects for a wide variety of clients.

Beth is an active member of the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior since 2001, and she has held several leadership roles within the organization. She served on the advisory board for the JD Andrews Institute, a foundation committed to the professional development of early childhood educators, where she helped to create a nutrition training program for these educators called “Healthy Habits Champions.”

Prior to starting PearTree Nutrition, Beth was a nutrition scientist for the Campbell Soup Company for several years. During her time at Campbell’s, she worked with multiple brand teams, legal, public affairs, government affairs, sales and product development, ensuring nutrition and health were baked into company decision-making. She launched their health and wellness web presence, as well as managing health professional communications for several years. She also served as the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) coordinator, and representing Campbell’s on the National WIC Association’s Leadership Council.

Beth Hartell, M.S., holds a Master of Science in nutrition communications from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University and a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from Tufts University.

PearTree Nutrition is based out of the Pacific Northwest.
